OPSIM 5.0 Released
06/02/2025

The download for OPSIM 5.0 is now available to all current users. Highlights are a substantial increase in speed, and completion of the "complex types" feature which has now become simply "assets". There are also two new tutorials that are related to this - one introducting assets & asset views in the context of calculating storage requirements, and another showing the failure and maintenance features in the context of wind farm maintenance, as well as calculating instantaneous power generation.

The speed improvement comes in large part from upgrading to Microsoft .NET 9, which does mean that you will be required to download and install this as part of the installation of OPSIM. However the minute or two this will take will quickly be compensated by the reduced simulation times.

Due to some reworking of the existing "complex types" feature into "assets", existing files will undergo an automatic migration and will therefore not open in OPSIM 4.x afterwards. In most cases where you are not using these features, we can work around this for you if you have a sudden requirement to open a new file on an old version - please contact support in this case.

OPSIM 4.0 Released
20/12/2023

We are pleased to announce that OPSIM 4.0 is now available to all existing users, with a new modern look, but much more than that.

A new "Delay Causes" block will allow you to link your limits to specific, named causes of delay and report on these to see where downtime comes from, check out the new Delay Causes tutorial to get started. You can also now define multiple types of cost, in order to e.g. track both monetary and environmental impacts of each scenario.

If working regularly with metocean data from the same sources, you can now save custom layouts as a template, and if your models are getting complex, you can now zoom in and out on the simulation canvas.

OPSIM 3.3.1 Released - Iterative Simulation
18/01/2022

The latest version of the OPSIM allows for faster simulation time while taking the guesswork out of how many simulations are required for statistically accurate results.

The new iterative simulation feature allows for progressive simulation, where each iteration contains double the number of simulation realisations as the previous, and iterations continue until the results from one iteration to the next have converged to within a user-controlled tolerance.

Information is provided on convergence both during simulation and in a handy report once simulation has completed, allowing for transparency and confidence in the process.
