OPSIM 4.1.1 Released
10/06/2024
We are pleased to announce that OPSIM 4.1.1 is now available to all existing users with a number of new features including many that will be of use to people using OPSIM during the execution of a project.
Control Panel
The control panel provides a centralised place from which to update multiple properties or report options within the simulation. It is intended for simulations being frequently ran during an ongoing operation where e.g. counters of completed or remaining work need updating each time based on the current state of the project.
A given option in the control panel can update multiple items in the model, reducing human error where e.g. a counter is updated in one place but not another.
Flow Control Entry Point
When using the flow control feature of a task list, execution normally begins at the top of the flow diagram. This new option allows you to specify that execution start in a specific schedule (and indeed, on a specific task and with a partial amount of work completed, if necessary).
This could be useful in the same situation as the above (where the simulation is being matched to the current state of an operation), but also when debugging models and you want to jump straight to the logic being tested.
Metocean Data Splicing
A new tab in the metocean data allows for selection of a forecast (as opposed to the usual hindcast) data file. This is then used in place of the hindcast data for the duration of the forecast, after which simulation reverts to the hindcast data. Simulations are limited to those using data starting in a window starting within a few days of the forecast data.
Expression/Limit Copy-Paste
If you copy/paste an entire expression or limit from one field to another, the pasted expression will contain the same bindings as the source expression which was copied, saving needless rebinding where these are the same.
100m Wind Template for ERA5
When downloading ERA5 data from our portal there is now a template that provides 100m wind speed. Note that this is the default, you would need to press Import Data after downloading the ERA5 file and apply the provided template. This is to avoid confusion between 10m/100m wind speed properties in simulations that don't require both.
Reposition Blocks During Playback
Sometimes in playback mode it is hard to see on what task a task list is "stuck" because it is hidden behind another task list present at the same waypoint. Now when the simulation is paused, you can drag the blocks around to then hover the mouse over and see what they are doing. Everything will jump back to the right place when simulation is resumed.
Additional Proxy Options
Some additional options have been added to the proxy block, such as modifiable counters and states/queues.
