09/08/2022

We’re pleased to announce the release of GMoor 10.5.1, available now for download, containing several new features and important bug fixes.

Clearance Calculations

As shown in the image above, GMoor can now calculate clearances from mooring lines to cylindrical or cuboid infrastructure. There are two types of clearances that are calculated – one is the vertical clearances (if the line passes directly above or underneath an obstacle) and the other is the closest clearance (the shortest approach between line and obstacle in three dimensions).

A new report has been added for finding the minimum clearances throughout a batch, and in addition to a new tab dedicated to clearance results, there are annotations on the catenary plots (for the mean tension) and plan view (for the selected result from the clearances tab).

Please see the new section in the manual (under GMoor Basics) dedicated to this.

Enhanced Stansberg for Max LF Motions

This method is an extension of the previous approach in GMoor which is now called “Stansberg Classic”, and will assume the LF motions to have an extreme value distribution as per Stansberg, 2000. For Stansberg Enhanced the user also has the option to request either the Most Probable Maximum or the Expected extreme value. To guide the user, GMoor will default to either MPM or Excepted, depending on the mooring code.

Extra Stiffness

It is now possible to specify extra stiffness in a similar way to extra damping.

Coloured Buoys / Sinkers

A new option under Field View -> Field View Options allows for better visualisation of buoys (yellow) / sinkers (grey) in place of the standard tick marks.

It is now possible to select a custom PNG file under File -> Preferences which will be used on the printable reports.
