OPSIM 5.5 Released
12/10/2026
OPSIM 5.5 is now available for download to all current users.
This release contains a number of quality-of-life improvements, of which the two most notable are probably the possibility to define "partial" forecasts, where a single forecast block can allow checking of all forecast phases or just a certain range, and the ability to control the order in which multiple scenario blocks are processed (and hence reported).
Partial Forecasts
In OPSIM 5.2 we introduced a more flexible forecasting system, including the possibility to allow for one or more phases to complete within a window of longer duration. I.e. we could have a pause in between phases, providing that the overall window length was not exceeded.
However this introduces (depending on the model) a requirement for a second forecast, since the initial check will tell you that you can e.g. do phase 1 immediately, followed by, within at most 24 hours, phase 2. However if you need to know the exact moment at which you could then begin phase 2, that would have required a second forecast block.
Now you can define a partial forecast to cover (in this example) just phase 2, or any number of ranges of forecast phases. Further, a button will automate the creation of these, for this common use case where larger windows are involved.
Scenario Processing Order
It has long been possible to define multiple scenario blocks, for which OPSIM will then run all combinations. So e.g. if you had a scenario block for Campaign Length (long/short) and for Vessel Speed (slow/fast) you would then have long & slow, long & fast, short & slow, and short & fast.
However, there was no control over the order in which these were ran and reported (so e.g. if reported as long & slow, you couldn't flip this to be slow & long). Now, as soon as you have multiple scenario blocks in the model, you can drag & drop the order of them on the general tab of any of those blocks.
Change Log
- Added new 'Partial Forecasts' feature to Forecast block to allow checking only a certain range of phases and not the entire forecast.
- Removed the Forecast Mode from the Forecast block - 'Count Opportunities' is now an optional feature enabled via a tickbox but in all cases you will have the Boolean 'Go/No-Go' forecast.
- Can now set custom/scenario state property from Control Panel.
- Can now control the processing order of multiple scenarios blocks, i.e. whether the report will be ordered A1, A2, B1, B2 or 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B.
- Can now click a schedule name in the Task List's Flow Control tab to jump to the Schedule tab with the corresponding schedule pre-selected.
- Will now indicate both version numbers in the header of reports if the version of OPSIM used to produce the results database is not the same as that used to create the report (will not work retrospectively).
- The ElapsedHours & ElapsedDays properties are now forecastable (with the same resolution as their realtime equivalents).
- Improve display of the locations of certain property connections in usage tooltip.
- Add display of tasks using a given task or cost type (tooltip on the two respective lists of task/cost types) up to a maximum of 20.
- The Logger block can now be used in models where no timestamp is available (i.e. without metocean data).
- Bugfix for custom property values embedded in text notes not appearing in report.
- Fix for internal properties evaluated in the course of forecasting showing their final values (at the end of the forecast buffer) which could be confusing to users if e.g. adding a watch block to these during playback.
